When you apply what you know to a new area and it works, it’s a great feeling.  Most of you know I troll the Atlas Umbrella Rigs a lot at San Luis Reservoir.  They’ve been working great for me for stripers there.  Recently I’ve been aching to try the California Delta and see if I can have the same success. Our first glimpse of the double digit spring run striper was all it took for three grown men to start screaming like school girls who had seen Justin Bieber in concert for the first time. Fishing strengthens the bond between people.  In this case, between father and son.  My trip to San Luis Reservoir with Salvador Gomez and his son Sal was a good example of that.  Even through the rain, wind and hail, they stuck it out and had some much needed time out on the water. These fishing reports I post up are just a small glimpse into the overall action at San Luis Reservoir or any where I fish.  Even if you don't use the same techniques I use or baits, you can take away from it things that can help.  Things like colors that work, locations or type of terrain just to name a few.  If it's a slow day for me, maybe they're biting on cut or live baits.  Who knows.  Use the info to your advantage.  I should be your base line. Everything went well this morning when Teng, Nick and I arrived at San Luis Reservoir.  The lake was calm and the sun wasn't completely out yet.
