FA MAG 2016: FAmily And Fishing

FA MAG 2016: FAmily And Fishing

I realized something while meeting everyone at the 2016 FishAholics Meet and Greet.  We as fishermen can have an impact and reshape our communities, with a little FA Culture.  Here's what I mean. I was able to meet some of the FAmily in person at our 2016 FishAholics Meet and Greet.  The event was held at Brannon Island State Park just south of Rio Vista, CA.  I was shocked at how a group of people, many of whom have never met before, can come together like this. It’s great seeing new and familiar faces.  FishAholics…Read more …
FishAholics Fishing Challenge At The California Aqueduct: Part One

FishAholics Fishing Challenge At The California Aqueduct: Part One

So a few days ago I ran a survey with the FishAholics FAmily.  I wanted to know what their biggest problems were related to fishing.  In the past, I’ve been going off my gut feeling about what I can help my members with.  Most of the things I put out may have been helpful but I wasn't sure it fully addressed what their biggest problems were.  After looking at the data, it came down to three  problems: Where, When and What.   So, members were having a hard time figuring out where to go.  They…Read more …
Winter Fishing In The Shallows

Winter Fishing In The Shallows

Here’s a pattern that might work for you. So in the winter time, most fish will relate to the bottom or suspend at a certain depth.  These fish are less active and not hunting.  So it’s tougher to get them to bite.  So why not target only the hungry ones. It’s the heart of winter.  Which can intimidate anglers but its not about how cold or hot it is, it’s about how stable the weather has been for the past few days.  With stable weather, patterns start to emerge.  The temperature hadn't fluctuated…Read more …

Fishing With Good Company: A Boat Full Of FishAholics

You know you’re a part of something great when a group of people, many whom have never met before, come together for a single event.  Traveling over 4 hours in some instances to be with other individuals that share the same beliefs that you do. At a young age, we have been told how to live life.  Our parents told us what was wrong and what was right.  Our teachers told us how to learn this and how to learn that.  As we grew older, we began discovering ourselves.  We started making friends with people who…Read more …
A Rig To Catch Stripers Consistantly

A Rig To Catch Stripers Consistantly

In this post, I want to introduce something that I haven’t seen anyone attempt before at the California Aqueduct.  It’s one of the most difficult techniques I’ve ever tried to pull off.  I know only a few individuals will give it a try.  These are your innovators and risk takers.  People who aren’t afraid of trying new things and like the challenge. I’ll be showing you how effective trolling with an Umbrella rig is at the California Aqueduct. The purpose of this post is to prove a concept.   The concept being trolling an Umbrella…Read more …
